What is your favorite beach in North Carolina?
We're looking to find a beach house this summer, and last year we went to Sunset Beach, which is STUNNING, but it's a bit out of our budget this year. We want something a little less crowded and more secluded where we'll have to drive to get back to civilization. Please give opinions of Holden Beach if you've been there, and any other beach in NC that you enjoy. Alternatives in other Eastern states will also be greatly appreciated.

- My family used to get a beach house on Topsil Island every summer growing up (It's right outside of Wilmington). It's really nice, quiet, the only thing that I didn't like about it was that it has a lot of shells on the beach so the sand isn't as smooth as some areas. Shell island is also pretty quiet, relativly inexpensive and definitly nice. Other places I've been to were Hilton Head (probably crowded and expensive), Nags Head, Myrtle Beach and Wilmington. Why not try one of the many small islands right off the coast. Some of them don't have electricity or running water but they're quiet and positivly stunning.
- I love the Outer Banks, my family has gone there ever year for as long as I can remember. There's not that much to do down there, but it's got a wild, barren sort of beauty to it. If you're looking for something secluded, that would be a good bet, you could also settle down on Ocracoke Island, but you'd have to take a ferry to get on and off the island. There are tons of little towns between Hatteras and Nags Head (Rodanthe, Waves, Avon, Buxton, Frisco and of course Hatteras) and all the people are really nice, it's the kind of place where most people don't even lock their doors at night...
