Best Of Wilmington, North Carolina -pizza, bookstores, beaches, BBQ, professionals, etc?

We're moving to the area and would love to hear from locals what their favorite businesses and service providers are. Who has the best pizza? the best BBQ? Cleanest park/beach? etc. What's your favorite place? Who's your favorite doctor, hairstylist, dentist, vet, lawyer, etc? Also any bad experiences too, for example incompetent doctors or dentists who are less than gentle. Mechanics who overcharge or make up fake car problems? Dirty restaurants? Anything like this will be helpful. Please be sure to explain exactly why you do or don't like the place/professional. Thanks in advance :) Yes we subscribed to the paper but they've had problems getting it to us , lol we have a few copies now though. Was hoping for some personal experiences.

1. Have you subscribed to the local newspaper there? We did that before we moved out here to Wyoming, and it was great to "know" the area before we got there. Another thing you can do is call/contact the city's Chamber of Commerce for their suggestions. Furthermore, call the city hall... oh, just anyone there! They are always full of ideas and suggestions, and maybe you'll make new friends there, too! Everyone is entitled to my opinion.
