Where is the best place to stay on the coast of North Carolina? We want nice beaches, great shopping and fun!?

1. The coast of NC is very long, so there are several options. personally I'd say the Outer Banks are beautiful, peaceful and fairly relaxed and from there you can go down to Nags Head. Wrightsville Beach is on the southern end of the state's coast, it is very small but nice and only a few miles from Wilmington which is nice if you want to go downtown or go out at night. Topsail is about 45 minutes north of Wrightsville and even smaller and more residential. I'd look into maybe renting a condo or house many people have summer homes in NC and rent them out during weeks or weekends for less than it would cost to stay in a small hotel room.
