What can we do on Christmas Day?

We are traveling in Sydney for the next few days and are interested in taking the bus or train to Bondi Beach, then going to a movie and then out to dinner. we are on a budget. will the trains or busses be running that day? will there be movie theatres open? recommended restaurants? not too spendy but maybe a view. thanks. Also, any suggestions for a nice dinner or buffet in the city, not too far from the center of town (or in the center) where we can have a good meal for around 30 or 40 dollars per person? Thanks.!

1. If $ is an issue, I would recommend, going shopping Christmas eve and getting some sausages, bread, tomato sauce and going to Bondi, find a public BBQ and have a true Aussie good time.
2. cinemas and public transport should be open and running on christmas day. however the public transport will be on a holiday timetable and wont be as regular as every other day. i agree with the BBQ on bondi beach, that is what alot of Aussies do on christmas day - the backyard barbie. but the barbie on the beach is equally as good if not better. they fun of the beach and a barbie all in one.
