Where in Australia would be the best place for an energetic 23 year old male to work and live?

I am considering moving out of the US for 6-12 months to work and live. I have always wanted to go to Australia for the beach weather and the people. I want to go to place by the beach and be able to meet a lot of people (women is a plus) and be able to have a fun job. I am a very social person and looking for a good time.

1. Well, as an energetic 23 y.o female I'd suggest my hometown Melbourne!! There's heaps of job opportunities plus a great 'lifestyle' - bars, clubs, pubs, beach, live music. ... and we get heaps of sport down here as well - footy, soccer, Grand Prix, Australian Open Tennis .... plus there's me!!! lol, relax I'm just kidding!! 2. I'm partial to Sydney, the people are very friendly, and the beach is nearby. I'm not sure you can work there as a visitor, unless you can freelance in some manor. Check the web for some volunteer positions that may be available.
3. well you have to way up costs and lifestyle. For example where i live (Adelaide) the cost of living is still very cheap, you can still by a very decent house for $200,000. (try doing that in sydney) there are alot of jobs on offer but it lacks a night life. Oh dont get me wrong we have night life but its very basic and many young people are leaving adelaide, its more of an older peoples town. Sydney would have your most electric night life but the cost of living there can cripple you. Melbourne is probably your best bet, its a cross between adelaide and sydney meaning all the fun of sydney with half the cost. Although brisbane city is breath taking.... maybe you should travel around a bit before you settle? Sydney, Melbourne and brisbane would be the places to go for fun.

5. Come to the Gold Coast Queensland!..Heard of Surfers Paradise? Best beaches around..and being the tourist Mecca..plenty of girls. Get a job in the tourism industry...apply at any of our theme parks..Movie World..SeaWorld...Wet n Wild Water park..Whatever you want..the possibilities are endless...
6. Hey mate, that's a really good idea, living in Australia for 6-12 months would be a fantastic experience for you. I would hands down recommend the Gold Coast. The "Gold Coast" basically refers to a 70km strip of coast that begins about half an hour south of Brisbane, Queensland, and runs down to the New South Wales border. The most central and popular section of the Gold Coast is Surfers Paradise, which is full of bars, restaurants, nightclubs, tourist attractions, high rise buildings, and yes - plenty of hot girls! It fronts onto Main Beach, which is arguably one of Australia's most favourable surfing beaches. Other Gold Coast attractions include the Dreamworld, Movie World and Sea World theme parks, the Australian Outback Spectacular, the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum, the observation deck at the top of the Q1 building, Dracula's cabaret restaurant and the Pacific Fair shopping centre (the largest in Queensland). Further away from the central Gold Coast district - but easily within a few hours drive - you can find hidden attractions including the rainforest village & waterfalls at the top of Mt Tambourine, and long rainforest hiking trails and an amazing treetop canopy walk at O'Reillys Guesthouse. North of the Gold Coast is Queensland's capital city, Brisbane, and north of that is the equally as attractive Sunshine Coast. Travel south into NSW and you will find laidback surfing towns such as Byron Bay and the hippie capital of Australia, Nimbin. So hopefully you can see that the Gold Coast is central to so many amazing attractions. Did I mention the weather is superb all year round as well? Work wise, I'm sure there are many jobs available to backpackers in the hospitality or retail industry, it shouldn't be too hard to pick up a short-term job pulling beers at a pub or as a waiter in a cafe. Get to meet heaps of ladies doing that too (I play guitar fairly regularly in pubs around the Gold Coast, and I can vouch for that!). Or labour work may be your kinda thing seeing as you describe yourself as energetic, so a temp agency such as Manpower would be the best people to approach if you're interested in that. So do your research, definitely keep the Gold Coast in mind, and I'm sure you'll have a blast if you do end up coming over, no matter where in the country you choose. All the best!

8. The city of Brisbane in Queensland is the place for you! Great weather! great beaches! & great people! The Nightlife is fantastic and everyone is really laid back. Your guaranteed to have fun and meet people. There is also lots of jobs on our little islands on the coast of Queensland, imagine working in a tropical paradise!! You'll love Australia!
