  1. Being from Exmouth WA...I would have to say diving on the Ningaloo Reef, whale sharks, exploring the canyons (which is one of my favourite things to do in winter) and lazing on our beautiful beaches. Of course....150kms away is Coral Bay which is another great spot to enjoy. A further 60km on is Warrora station which is a place I spent half of my childhood as my uncle was a cray fisherman there for almost 30 years....he was the only licenced diving cray fisherman in Australia and was a legend nicknamed Ningaloo Nick! He dived the entire length of the Ningaloo Reef many times over and knew all the good spots to go. We would spend all our school holidays there, beaching it...walking the reef, bush walking, exploring etc....The best times of my life. I also know of a VERY famous Australian that loves to holiday at Warroora Station with her kids...but won't mention any names as she obviously loves the peace and quiet and the anonymity. My husband and I would often go 4 wheel driving up and down the coast from Exmouth to the Bluff near Carnarvon so he could chase the surf and I could play with the kids on the beaches. I have recently moved from my hometown to Perth and miss it more than ever, especially after answering this question!
  2. Margaret River definitely! I went on a really fun paddling trip there a few years ago - you can go by yourself or with a big tourist group. Then there is spelunking, or caving for those who aren't in the know. There are some easy walk through caves but also some that you have to abseil into and crawl on your belly to get through. Just nearby is the Pemberton Tree - 80 metres high and you can climb it - no safety harness - talk about adventure. And of course there's surfing - the locals just can't get enough and neither will you.
  3. Me? Serpentine Falls. We rode our bikes down (I am from Serpentine BTW) to serpy falls then spent the day there, swimming, picnicking, climbing etc. We basically had a great day. Just don't dive off the rocks! Liv
  4. The Kimberly region is good if you like hot weather or around the outback parts of WA, Or a nice trip to the beach around Margret river with excellent surfing conditions.
  5. Some 5 years ago, Eric(my husband) and I went on a tour(organised through a company) of Broome and The Kimberleys in Northern Western Australia. We travelled along the Gibb River road in a ex army vehicle. There was 8 of us retirees plus a very young driver. We camped every night at a different location, in army tents, had a meal and spent evenings around the camp fire hearing stories about Aborigines and their dream times, the wonders of the area we were in and in the process made lots of friends. At night it was very cold, sometimes only 4 degrees. You could swim in the rivers if you were game as the temperatures of the water was also very cold. Daytime temperatures went up- to the 30's. We had Aboriginal guides as we travelled onto their lands and we needed their permission to do so. My husband flew over the northern coastal area of Western Australia in a helicopter, and said he could spot crocodiles along the water's edge. We were shown privileged areas where rock art took your breath away with it's beauty, and the history of the area left memories for me which I will never forget. We vowed to come back and do the trip again. Next time I will be more prepared. There is no other place in the world quite like the Kimberleys and Northern Western Australia.
