Crocodiles at the beaches in northern Australia, when can I swim?

I've heard there are saltwater crocodiles at the beaches in northern Australia, how far south do the crocodiles go? and is there a certain saltwater crocodile season where it's not safe to go near the beach? I already know about the box jellyfish.

Public Comments

  1. they go where they like,be scared ,very scared dont go in the water or a stingray might get you also, crikey
  2. most beaches have warning signs about the dangers but people continue to swim the danger is there at all times
  3. Crocodiles are found as far south as Rockhampton on the East Coast of Australia - They are more numerous north of Townsville. There is no particular crocodile season - they are only in the ocean as they move from the mouth of one creek or river to another - so stay away from the mouths of creeks when swimming. There have been two deaths in the last 12 months here (northern territory) where the people were taken while swimming in the ocean. It has not stopped any of us swimming in the ocean in the "dry season". - yes I worry more about the box jelly fish.
