About the Sunshine Coast, Queensland Australia?
How populated is the Sunshine Coast? Do they have cities, shopping, big buildings, or is it more like a town? I'm having some trouble finding pictures of it beside the beaches and want to compare it to the gold coast. THank you

- The Sunshine Coast is a series of small towns that are slowly being linked together. There is little high-rise development but plenty of modern facilities such as shopping centres. It is quieter than the Gold Coast which is all high-rise, glitz and tackiness. The Sunshine Coast is booming and property prices are increasing rapidly. It stretches north of Brisbane to Noosa Heads, about 150km.
- The Sunshine Coast begins at Caloundra, which is the second largest municipality on the Sunshine Coast and is one hour's drive north of Brisbane, and extends north to Cooloola. It includes the Glass House Mountains, Blackall Range, Noosa Hinterland and the Mary Valley; as well as over 100 kilometres of beaches stretching through the coastal towns of Caloundra, Kawana, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Coolum Beach, Noosa and Rainbow Beach. The total population is about 280,000 people. Yes there is lots of shopping centres, e.g The Sunshine Plaza is a large shopping centre in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. With majors stores and supermarkets including Coles, Woolworths, Myer, Kmart, Target, 12 Cinemas and another 250 individual shops. - i live here. sunshine coast is made up of small to medium towns with beaches ect. biggest towns are Noosa, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba and Caloundra. No real big buildings execpt the hotel in Mooloolaba, "The Outrigger Mooloolaba". But keep in mind there is lots of accomidation on the Sunshine Coast, Cheap and Expensive Shopping, the best place for that is 'Sunshine Plaza'. It has lots aqnd lots and lots of shops including, Coles, Woolworths, Kmart, Target, Myer and there are Birch Cinimas with 12 thearters. Pretty much does it. Not as big as the Gold Coast and not as much to do as we dont have big theme parks but it is a good place to relax. Flights to Sunshine Coast is from Melbourne and Sydney with Jetstar and Virgin Blue. The airport is 10 minitues from Maroochydore with car rental facilties there.
- the sunshine coast extends from caloundra in the south to noosa heads in the north - a distance of about 100 klm. it consists of a series of "small towns" which are merging into one large metropolis. many places have imposed building height limits to 3 storeys. As it is far more spread out then the gold coast, it feels more urban. in my opinion, there is no comparison to the gold coast - each is unique & depends on what you're looking for - ie. fast, glitzy, party all night long - go to the gold coast laid back, easy going, family friendly - go to the sunshine coast. both areas are very modern if you're looking at restaurants - noosa compares to any venue in the world.
