Where is a good place to live in Australia?

I currently live in Sydney, Australia And when I move out I don't want to live too far away from home. I like the beach and even though it's far away I was considering moving to the Gold Coast or Port Maquarie or something. Or maybe living close to Bondi or Bronte beach? What's a place which is close to the beach but not too expensive and not TOO far away from family? And preferably lives close to stores, shopping centres and entertainment? And a place with friendly people? Thank You
