Garie Beach

Somewhere romantic to go to Jamaica? :)?

Ok I had plan on going by myself to Jamaica. But now I have a man friend that is coming with me:) So for the people who have been to Jamaica or live there. For budget reasons we can afford to go to Montego Bay even though I really wanted to go to Negril at first. So for myself I didn't want to pay no more then $1000 for 3-4 days. I live in Texas. I went to expedia, travelocity, orbitz and hotwire and looking at the hotels and beaches pictures can be deceiving. I prefer an all inclusive resort. But my main concern is that I want my hotel to be on the beach. white sand. Maybe someone know any hotels that are not updated on the websites I named earlier or recommend me to stay somewhere. What is else there to do besides the beach? I was going to stay at Rockhouse Hotel in Negril:( Oh and how much U.S money should I bring? and around what month is cheap to go. I plan on going July/Aug

  1. There're many deals right now and I recommend Sandals that has 65% off and Breezes that has every 4th night free. We have stayed at both and had a great time. You might be cutting close for around $1,000. You should have at least 200.00 spending for food at the airports, gift shops and emergency. You don't need money at the all-inclusive unless you spend in the gift shop. I recommend you purchase you flights midweek and take advantage of the summer deals. 2. You can still visit Negril. Does that $1000 include your airfare as well? If that's just your budget for lodging and gifts, then you should have more than enough or 3-4 days and could stay in a nice place. If you are talking about $1000 including airfare, then you will still be able to have fun, it's just not going to be in the nicest place on the island. I highly advise you to check out Tripadvisor.com instead of going straight to all those travel websites. Tripadvisor will check all those agencies for the best price always, so you can you stop shop. There are approx. 98 hotels in Negril, you should be able to afford one of them. Here are several places in Negril that are cheap as can be to get you started. 3. I visited Jamaica last year and it was really inexpensive and I stayed in RIU Ocho rios. The whole trip was around 1,700 dollars Airfare from Houston, all inclusive hotel and transportation to and from the Hotel. There is a longer ride from the Airport since we flew into Montego bay, but it was totally worth it, there is alot more to do around Ocho rios, my fiance and I did the dolphin encounter, the Dunn's river waterfalls and the blue mountain excursions. If you book them with your travel they are usually cheaper. We didn't book with the travel and we paid approx 500$ for the excursions. I recommend to take anywhere from $200 to $300 and also to take $1, $5, $10 and $20$ bills in case that you need to buy anything or pay for cab rides, sometime they didn't have change and hopefully you are not like me and like to buy everything they put in front of you, because you will encounter alot of jamaicans that will try to sell you anything. You can also find RIU in Montego Bay and Negril as well. i hope you enjoy your trip and look for the best deals. If you book thru expedia make sure to look at the flight to make sure your layover is not over night.
  4. Check out tripadvisor.com, great site to read all the hotel reviews. We just went last month, to Grand Palladium, a huge all inclusive resort. Has a decent beach, though not as big as the one at Negril. But the most awesome swimming pool in the world-- just wonderful and enormous. We stayed there for about $200 per night, rates do vary I guess but the rooms are all jr suites or full suites- we got upgraded to a suite for free. Certainly a romantic place, and like staying in a palace.
