Where would you suggest we stay..?

So were planning on taking a little trip down to Texas. But, we want to be able to go to the beach without having to drive 2 hours from the resort/hotel. So basically we want a place located on the beach as close as possible. What hotel or resort would you suggest thats close the the beach? Oh another thing, would be even be able to enjoy the beach or would it be off limits because of the oil spill?

1. The oil is going east from LA so it's not n Texas beaches. However, it will be if they don't get it cleaned up before a hurricane comes. You didn't say if you're going to Galveston, South Padre Island or Corpus Christi but all 3 places have hotels on or across the street from the beaches. Have fun.
