Where does the white sand end on the gulf coast...?

I live in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. we have BEAUTIFUL white beaches. i have heard more down south's beaches are not as white (at all). well i was just wondering where the beach turns... if that makes sense? i have looked but can find no answer.. Thanks if you can help!

  2. If you were scootin' along the beach heading east from FWB, the white sand comes to a complete end at the shoreline just south of Tallahassee. Then from there, the shoreline is not sandy at all, but very marshy, all the way down to Clearwater Beach, just outside of Tampa. The sandy shoreline picks up again at Clearwater Beach where the sand is still bright, but with more of a hint of "french vanilla". It's like that all the way down to the border of the Everglades. All of the beaches on the east coast between Jacksonville and Miami are somewhat darker. The fish in those waters must have darker poop.
