- I will say Moloka'i because of all the islands open to the public, Moloka'i is the least involved with technology. Many people will probably give you dirty looks though. I hope not; I apologize on their behalf if they do. Moloka'i, along being the least involved with modern advances, is one of the most native of all the islands. Almost all inhabitants have Hawaiian koko (blood). They're true natives. On the other hand, they have one of the most beautiful places... ever. For me, I like living on Hawai'i (or the Big Island to most tourists) because I feel it has the right amount of modernization and nature. Plus, we have beauuuutiful waterfalls on our island. Kealakekua bay is a MUST. Rainbow Falls is a very appealing public waterfall.
- just go to malibu. it's very expensive here. i don't think you can afford it, unless you already have a job here. there's too many unemployed white people crowding the beaches already, and walking the streets, hitchiking, it's really sad. so please stay home, thank you
- Well, it looks like you are dreaming a Hawaiian dream of 30 years ago! Hawaii has changed a lot, just within the 15 years I have been living there. I love to listen to the stories my husband tells me about the Big Island when he came there over 30 years ago but one cannot go back in time. Once the beauty and warm climate of the Hawaiian islands was discovered, naturally everybody wants to experience it! Just a few thoughts from me: There are still a few secret beaches which are not well known to toursists but mostly it's the ones which are hard to get to. The majority of Hawaii visitors prefer a short walk to the beach from parking lot. How can you have a 'beach party' but no tourists? Quite a number of locals, Hawaiians and Haoles (white people), do still camp on the beach, play their ukuleles and BBQ. These people know each other well and don't advertise their 'beach party'. You definitely need to know somebody to be part of it. Unfortunately, your wishes of rain forest and waterfalls being close to white sand beaches does not match how 'Mother Nature' devoloped the islands. It's either or. There are spectacular waterfalls in Hawaii but a lot of the times it will take you long walks to reach those but already the walk or hike is an experience by itself. Try it and you will love it! If you really want to spend your Hawaii vacation away from people and resorts, try Upcountry Maui or Upcountry Big Island. It's beautiful ranchland with rolling hills, cows and horses. You may find a private cottage overlooking the mountains and the coastal regions. Otherwise, there is always Molokai being the least developed island in regards to tourists and resorts but this also means it's a little harder to get to. Hoping this gives you a better understanding of the Hawaiian islands. Have a wonderful Hawaii vacation! Aloha, Pua
