half man - half horse in phillippines?
okay this is kinda freaky. i had been to a long vacation in the phillippines... urdaneta, pangasinan to be exact. i got really sick the first 4 days so i stayed home at my grandma's house? one night, it was raining and there was lightning and thunder. my grandma has a a huge garden in front of her house. i was looking out the window, admiring the rain and lightning flashes.. in the garden i see a half man-half horse looking creature looking straight at me. i was home alone and i freaked out. almost s*it my pants. then a week later, i stayed at the mayor resort with my family. we were sleeping in his guest house in the back. i was taking a shower and decided to look out the window to look at the beach, eventhough it was night time. i saw light from a boat or something afar and it flashed in my face and i saw the same creature looking dead at me. i freaked out again. where can i find info on this half man-half horse? i heard it's a filipino myth... filipinos let me know!

- it's called Tikbalang in Filipino folklore. I don't believe they exist though. Could be just your imagination.
- they don't exist

- Yes, you are right, those creatures belong to Philippine Folklore. Tikbalang(s) as they are called, are half-human & half-horse creatures believed to inhabit rural areas where there are lots of trees. They have the head of a horse, the torso and arms of a human, human legs but horse's feet, and has a horse's tail. They are generally hairy and have long manes. If you have noticed that I have used the term human in describing them, that is because "tikbalangs" come in both genders (there are male and female tikbalangs). Some say they are usually harmless, only territorial and playful. They have the power to confuse you, making you go in big circles around the forest and thus very hard for you to find the way home. The only way to break the spell is to put on your shirt inside out. Other rural folks believe that male tikbalangs have strong affection to human females. When this happens, that woman behaves like being possessed. There are no stories of female tikbalangs being attracted to human males (don't ask my opinion because I can't mention it in public...lol). Another general belief is that if you happen to sneak behind a tikbalang, mount its shoulders, look for a silver hair and pluck it off. If you suceeded doing so, the tikbalang will serve you as a slave and will obey whatever your commands are.
- Bloody hell! That was really creepy! Thanks for setting an example of not EVER looking outside windows again! I've never seen Tikbalang's before (or any of our native ghosts and ghouls) and I hope to never see any of them, ever. *shivers* just thinking about it makes me cringe.
- i saw the same thing im filipino i saw one before its body is horse and the rest and its head is a horse man a body am i right its freaky and bizzare in our town the tikbalang shows up at night and walks around if it finds a man or a woman they say its gonna eat the them
- Think of it this way, the first time you were sick, it was night time and there was lightning flashing. The second time it was night time again and you had a light from something far off. Although it would be pretty dope if it was real.
