Best Beaches on East Coast for Kids?

I am planning a family vacation for this August/September and was looking for some suggestions on the best beaches for kids. I am looking for more to do then just sit at the beach. We were at Myrtle a couple of years ago and loved it but didn't know if there was any other beach out there that was comparable. I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old.

1. Check out Ocean Isle Beach in NC. It is about 45 minutes north of Myrtle Beach and there are a number of things to do nearby including TurtleWatch, Fisher Island Acquarium, etc.
