what are some of the best beaches to go to in Athens and is it hard to get to them by car?

Hi, what are the best beaches for family near Glyfada to go to? We went to Voulagemini last time we were there and I forgot what else they have? Can you please tell me what the best beaches are and DO you have to pay to get in ? ALso, how far is it from GLyfada and can we drive or is it better to take a cab? Thanks so very much :) !!! How much does it cost to get into the beach? thanks again!

1. Well in Athens there isnt really any good beaches! You need to go down to the best places in Galatas the village next to Mesologi
2. You can easily reach all the Southern Coast beaches with the tram - no need to take your car as it increases air pollution - the ticket is just 1€. You can go to Glyfada or Alimos beaches. If you want to go somewhere by car, go to Marathon beach or Schinias beach, you can easily go there via Attiki Odos, then you exit for Marathon - Leoforos Marathonos (means Marathon Ave.), and you go all the way down to Marathon. Schinias is near Marathon, and at certain times and periods it is also good for surfing. Last time I've been there, Schinias and Marathon beaches were free of charge. To get into Attiki Odos from the Southern suburbs you need to go all the way up to Periferiaki Imittou, which is the fastest way as both Periferiaki Imittou and Attiki Odos are highways, have also a look at Google Maps. You could also get on a ferry and go to Aigina island, which is no more than 1 hour travel from Pireaus port.
