Garie Beach

What are the best beaches to visit in Darwin?

I'm flying into Darwin on June 4th and will have all afternoon and evening to do whatever I like, so I thought a beach would be great to visit. What are the best beaches there? Or is there something even better to do?

  1. Mindle beach especially on a friday night for the markets. None of Darwins beaches are anything great but a wander around mindle beach and over to the museum is very nice . Beware darwins beaches can have deadly creatures more so in the wet season though. A wander around the Esplanade is lovely and down to the wharf for Fish and chips.
  2. I agree about Mindil Beach, but very few people swim in the ocean in Darwin because of stingers and crocs. Most people go south to swimming holes in places like Berry Springs or Howard Springs. http://www.arounddarwin.com.au/darwin_swimming.html http://www.arounddarwin.com.au/
  3. Mindil Beach *Is near the Casino and the closest beach of good quality to the central part of Darwin. Lammeroo Beach *The beach is fairly stony, but there are the ruins of some sea water baths down here, although only foundations remain now. Casaurina Beach *Located 7km's east of the city is Darwin's nudist beach.
  4. what about all the crocs!
  5. Darwin has no beaches, and if you like to become crocodile food then swim wherever you want
