North Carolina beaches .. i need help !!!!!!!!!!!!?

OK, my b/f and i Would like to go to the beach for the weekend or for a few days during the week. But i have no idea which beach 2 go 2 there are SO many We both live in the Raleigh area.. We don't wish to drive to far -- even tho i would love to go to the outer banks is there a beach that is not 2 far ??.. This is what we are looking for ...WE DONT HAVE KIDS we are going on vacation and don't wish to really deal w. other ppls kids I know this is crazy But we dont want to spend hours roasting in the sun. Is there a beach that offers maybe like museums planetariums and Aquariums also upscale restaurants ? We want a nice upscale seafood restaurant.. None of this Fish fry sitting on picnic tables ... i have been to some .. please help .. if you can name some Beaches and maybe places to stay .. thanks

1. I'd suggest Kill Devil Hills...there are a TON of good places to go, but if you want Aquariums and not so much body bronzing, you may want to head a bit further north and go to Virginia Beach...either place is about 4 hours away from you. Either place has great places to eat and lots to do.
2. The Wilmington area beaches (Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, etc) are the closest to Raleigh. Also, being close to Wilmington gives you more choices as far as nightlife goes. Many childless couples stay at Wrightsville for daytime beach stuff and then go to the downtown Wilmington riverfront for dining, bars, shopping, dancing, shows, etc etc. As well as sightseeing all the historical buildings there. There is also an aquarium nearby at Fort Fisher (also a civil war historical site).
