- Australia is home to the largest number of poisonous snakes in the world- it's a fact. Yes, animals are everywhere, so wear clsoed toed shoes when walking and loose pants. Why? when a snake strikes, as soon as the fangs touch anything, they bite and try to poison- htey cna't help it- but when they strike the baggy part of ur pants they wont try to bite harder, and they think they got u and u'll be safe. U have to be aware not to accidentally hurt a critter who of course will defend itself. Yeah, shake out your clothes, shoes, etc. keep stuff off the ground and out of reach of animals. lock up food. keep a walking stick so you can rattle bushes ahead of u as a warning to animals to get out of the way. If u see a snake, SLOWLY walk away-DONT RUN, thye'll chase u if u run thinking ur prey. Keep a first aid kit with snakebite, spiderbite, and other meds with u, and keep a cell phone so if ur bitten u can cal for help. They're are electronic things u plug into walls htat make a vibration only bugs cna hear and it keeps them out! Vinegar alos works, spray vniegar around the inside of your house (the borders) and bug repellant outside the house around the borders. Just be careful, respect the animals' territory and you'll be fine!
- Which Golden Beach in Australia? Sunshine Coast, Queensland, or, Gippsland, Victoria Regardless of which, firstly, almost all Australian snakes are timid. It is commonly said that for every snake you see, as many as 20 snakes have seen you. They avoid contact with larger creatures. The vicious unprovoked attacking snakes of Australia are almost exclusively only encountered in inland Australia. (The western and eastern Taipan, the Fierce Snake, The King Brown and the standard Brown snakes.) When nesting, the coastal snakes of concern are the Brown snake and Tiger Snake. These snakes however are almost exclusively found nesting only in rural areas away from people. The most likely human encounter would be almost exclusively on coastal farm lands. As for spider you can expect in either of the two Golden Beach areas, most likely you will encounter the Daddy Long Legs. Pholcus phalangioides (not to be confused with the American one of the same name - different species) The Daddy Long Legs is apparently one of the most venomous spiders of Australia, but being a purely insect eating spider, it's fangs are so tiny, it can not penetrate the skin of a human to inflict any toxin. http://museumvictoria.com.au/spiders/detail.aspx?pid=4 They settle in corners of exterior eaves of houses and inside rooms within near the ceiling. They are a blessing in disguise, as they devour mosquitoes with gusto. If you can put up with their dust collecting webs in the corners of your interior rooms, they reduce mosquitoes significantly. The biggest concerns for you in those two different Golden Beach areas, is the Red Back Spider. They can be abundant in certain seasonal conditions, or almost non existent. While a toxic and extremely painful diet, they are rarely fatal. (Been bitten several times now and never needed to seek medical treatment) Rarely encountered at either of those two Golden Beaches is the Funnel web spider. Your most likely encounters will be under garbage can handles or inside shoes. They both make very tangled webs and will most likely be sighted in shoes before you put your foot inside. Best way to avoid.... all around the exterior of your house sprinkle the white powder (in different names and content) available cheaply from hardware and garden stores. It will kill and deter spiders, cockroaches, ants, spiders and I heard rumour that even mice will avoid the powder. It is long lasting, good for up to 3 months. Even cheap plain Talcum powder will deter spiders. (an occasional sprinkle of talcum powder in your shoes will stop spiders crawling inside)
