Is the sea really blue?

- Water is clear. The stuff in it might have a greenish murky color. However, when you see a sea that is blue, it's usually the color of the sky reflecting off the water. That's why it's usually a greenish blue... the reflecting sky plus the stuff in the water, like algae, seaweed, etc. --- edit --- Think of it this way... If you're in a room with blue walls, blue floor and blue ceiling, and you look at a mirror and see nothing but blue, does that mean the mirror is blue? Of course not.
- The sea isnt that blue its just the sky above
- that looks like great keppel island in oz and ive been there and yes its just like that... although it is actually very clear and its the skys Reflection that makes it appear blue
- No actually its not. Water (sea) is clear and its the Sky's reflection which makes it blue. Kerry
