Help! I have sand in my camera!?
Right so my mum bought me my camera for my birthday because we were off to Australia for the holidays and she wanted me to take pictures! We all know the beach is one of the main Australian attractions, and so naturally my camera was one of the passengers in my bag. I just charged it and when I clicked it on it suddenly went wrong. As the zoomy thing came out it made a grating sound like it had sand in it. Then, the lens wasn't very focussed. Then, the bottom half of the lens cover got jammed and I can't reach it nor see it. help! I feel really bad because it's so new and was so expensive!

- Yeea my dad had sand in his camera 2 wen he dropped it in sand in tenerife..it didnt work soo he threw it out..aask sum1 to fix iit for ya or go to the shop where u bought iit and ask dem how to fic it..!
- what camera is it? no offense to you but ask a man to take the casing off and blow the sand out using a hair dryer and a soft brush, (cool air) if the sands gone into the camera further which it sounds like it has then you will have to take it all apart, don't worry it can be fixed. shame im not there cos im quite the handy man lol. sand will only be a problem for the lense focusing in and out because it uses a motor and cogs, that's the horrible sound your hearing. it wouldn't be a major problem to any other part of the camera but still it needs to come out asap. ps don't turn it on or try taking any photos until it's cleaned, if you do you will do more damage to it.
- Uh oh! Sand in camera is usually the kiss of death. I guess the whole thing would have to be professionally dismantled and cleaned, if that's possible, and then you would probably be charged the sun, moon and stars. So sorry! The quilty verdict won't be easy to bear, I'm afraid - this will be one of those Mother-Daughter Testing moments. Good luck!
- depending on the cost of the camera ,the comments made are correct.if it is a digital one you might be cheaper buying a new one
- This is why I usually recommend photography newbs get waterproof cameras.
