Garie Beach

Are you allowed to have bonfires on Gold Coast (QLD, Australia) beaches?

My friends and I want to have a beach party and want a bonfire/fire but not sure if we're allowed them.

  1. I think you'll find at the moment there's a total fire ban just about everywhere.
  2. While there is no current fire ban in the Gold Coast area. You must have a permit to light any fire from the Queensland rural fire service. Their gold coast office can be contacted at: Queensland Rural Fire Service 99 Limestone Street IPSWICH QLD 4305 Phone: 3381 7122 You should also remember that right now is the start of the Australian summer season, a time when total fire bans are commonly in effect around Australia. The Victorian Wildfires of last summer are a very good reason why you should contact your local fire service BEFORE lighting any fire. Embers can be carried miles from their point of origin and start fires that can endanger lives with you none the wiser. Do yourself a favour - check it out first.
  3. I have spent years on the Gold Coast beaches and have never seen a bonfire so I guess the answer is a definite No but what I do see sometimes is people sitting around those little candles the ones that I think float in water they are in a little contaainer and not much bigger than a 50 cent piece and I've seen a ring of them . But also keep in mind one is not allowed alcohol on the beaches either . There are cameras the Police are constantly watching you. They have been really hard this year on the schoolies and many have been arrested or fined also for urinating on the beaches.
  4. It's an offence to light any sort of fire on Gold Coast beaches.
  5. No, not at the Gold Coast. Not quite the ideal place. There actually is a total fire ban in all of South East Queensland at the moment and will stay there for most of our sumer. L
  6. I've asked my friends about it and they replied "no, you're not allowed to have a bonfire on Gold Coast". The issue of Wild Fire in Australia cost huge amount of money and the tourism is down.
  7. No, its an offense. The police can fine you if you do. Sorry!
