Garie Beach

I'm Tired of Living in Texas?

I visited some friends in Key Largo this summer and fell in love with Southern Florida. It also doesn't help that I've always wanted to live near a beach! In the past couple of years, pretty much all of my best friends have moved out of state or to cities a few hours away. Not only am I 26 now, but I feel like I have no friends and to make matters worse, I got laid off from my job a little over a month and a half ago. I've interviewed here, but no luck at all. I'm just realizing how much I need a big change and my mind hasn't left the Florida idea. I'm just scared because I'm having to do all of this alone (my Florida friend lives on a resort). I'm thinking of driving down in few weeks and maybe staying at a hostel or just renting a room (to look for work). Has anyone ever done this? I mean has anyone ever relocated to another state and gone about it without jobs lined up? Give me the details.

  1. Texas is the place to live! Don't like it? Boot on out!
  2. the only thing I will warn you, coming from a florida person who moved to texas. Roaches in florida are worse than texas, plus they have gators and snakes much more too. taxes are in freaking sane in florida HURRICANES, nuff said EVACUATIONS, nuff said the illegals are about the same in both states, but texas ones at least mow your grass for you. SINKHOLES, nuff said texas is only cold for about three months and only on some days, florida is twice as cold for twice as long. I actually saw snow in daytona a couple years back. Disney is expensive, universal is expensive, miami is expensive, bike week is expensive, the race is expensive, and all the freaking tourists drive you NUTS Picture if you will, nasa malfunction and a shuttle craft in your front lawn.... Did I mention that Florida really is not doing too well economically with the jobs and Texas is on the uprising?
  3. Whoever says Texas is better than Florida is insane!!! Florida has the most beautiful beaches in the U.S. we have awesome weather (hurricanes haven't hit in YEARS) and when they are coming you know in advance plus we take precautions. The great thing about KeyLargo is that it's minutes away from Miami so you have the city right there... I have a friend who lives in keylargo and she lives in paradise. It's more laid back though as you may know. But i suggest you make another trip here and check out jobs focus on finding a job while your here then make your move!
  4. If you aren't shure about florida think about moving to chicago, there are many people that just had moved from texas, it is a nice, cosmpolitan city you can make a lot of friends
