Places to go in Sydney?
Going to Sydney + Gold Coast for a month in November, and would like to know if there's any tourist attractions I've missed? I have been to both places before, but I'm wondering what I haven't explored and should. I'm staying on Bondi, and I know all about Bondi beach + junction so no need to suggest that one. ;D Is there anywhere in particular I should go to other than QVB/Luna park/Opera house? Can someone give me a little more info about the Opera house too please? I just want to go have a look inside, does it cost? I've been to the aquarium, didn't find it that interesting. :/ Are there any good stops on the monorail? Thanks so much. :)

- Hi there It sounds like you have done all the usual tourist attractions and are now ready to see more of the real Sydney - more where the locals go. Firstly to answer your question about the opera house. You can do a tour that departs every day and costs about $30 if you book on line in advance http://www.sydneyoperahouse.com/whatson/theessentialtour09.aspx The monorail is not that great and is in my opinion over priced. It takes in Darling Harbour but you can walk here from the city. Paddy's Market is cheap but full of tat. It depends what you are into! As for what else to do in Sydney, I think you should start to explore some of the suburbs Surry Hills for an evening out - pubs, good value restaurants and a great vibe Paddington - check out the market on Saturdays and enjoy a coffee in one of the many cafes along Oxford Street. Or take a detour to five ways and people watch here. Kings Cross and Potts Point - more for the evening. This is the party place and the area doesn't get going til about 9.30pm. It will still be going at 6am! Have you done the Bondi to Coogee Walk - it is really stunning. Stop off at Bronte. Use the BBQ facilities here if you fancy. Get on a ferry and check out Balmain. Another great place for pubs, cafes and shops and some nice old style houses. - See you there, i'm going soon. sometimes its good to know where you're coming from. A great place and activity to go to is the beach. very nice. Also, you have to visit the zoo's, ocean world, china town, vietnam town, downtown. The opera house can sometimes be expensive. i have been in there when i was only a little boy. I think to look inside is free. they probably might cost you a bit for coming in to see. Also, visit Manly beach, and Manly Water park. if you are going to the gold coast visit Dreamworld, and the National park. Dreamworld has a few records of its own, like the worlds tallest freefall ride. Email me, i have so many memories. Visit Little Nell
