Garie Beach

Would it be fun to travel to a Puerto Rico beach resort alone?

I have a room booked for aug. 14-18 but none of my friends can go. I am 19 years old lacking confidence right now. I love meeting new people but I have just been down in the dumps lately(basically why I want to go to Puerto Rico and get out of Texas). I'm not a bad looking guy either. Do you think it would be fun to be by yourself in a foreign place? I am having trouble deciding! I haven't ever been to a beach resort either. Are people usually friendly in these types of places?

  1. i don't think so because you have nobody there to play with i guess to give you there opinion when you need or want one
  2. Due to bad weather, I got stranded in Puerto Rico by myself when I was just a few years older than you. The people were so warm & welcoming, I made it a point to go back several times. You can have a great time by yourself and I would encourage you to explore what the island has to offer beyond the resort.Get to Old San Juan and El Yunque-the rainforest, if you can. If everyone at the resort seems to be paired up, talk to the staff members. They are great guides to all things local. Since you are from Texas, I'll bet you are pretty able at getting along in Spanish. That will help venturing away from the resort. Have a great trip.
  3. Hello! It really depends. When you stay in the hotel I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of Americans on vacation too, so maybe you could find somebody your age and have a good time with them. For you age, shopping and clubbing will be great. Here in Puerto Rico the legal drinking age is 18, just bring some ID (I'm 18 years old and that's what most kids of my age do). And just like everywhere else, there are very friendly people and rude people, but since you're going to stay in the nice are, most of them will be very nice. If you want to know about specific places, don't hesitate and contact me. Have a great trip!
  4. since is for a short period of time, you would have fun!! im going on that sam day too =] people are extremely friendly, wayyy different than here in the US, they are sooo nice its sometimes kind of a shocker loool OH! ANOTHER THING i was talking to my relatives, they told me that the swine flu is over there right now, you should go protected and bring a mask, especially on the airplane and bring hand sanitizer less that 3 oz so you can take it with you on the plane...just letting you know to be safe!
