Garie Beach

For those who like to come to Bali, especially Australians. Why?

This doesn't mean that I don't like you to come here. On the contrary, I am proud of my place of being center of tourism and I really appreciate you all for coming here. I just wonder what are you really looking for here? I mean, I've been in Sydney Australia once, it was a great place, clean, the weather is good, friendly people, sexy girls too (if that is one of your reasons coming here) and it has great beaches too like Bondi Beach (if I'm not wrong). So what are you looking for? Yes, I notice that, not just in Bali but in every place as long as it's in Indonesia, things are cheap here. Hotels, foods, transportations, souvenirs, services etc. But no branded goods (e.g Gucci Bags, YSL perfume) those are still the same. But about NZers or the Australians being arrogant here, frankly I never heard or read that kind of news in the newspapers or TV. Instead, every time I meet them, like in Legian or Kuta Beach, they are so friendly and polite, and so are the other tourists. I think if they are like what you said, boorish or rude or annoying, it just happens in a bar or pub, sort of like that and mostly in the night time. And if it so, I guess it's a common thing for people that were too excited (especially when they were under the influence of alcohol or drugs) and I guess it must have been settled right at that moment.

  1. Its basically the closest "exotic" destination for Australians and it started as a surf hangout and has grown from there. Plus the market is tailored to them with Aussie beers etc etc. As a New Zealander I feel that many Australians and some New Zealanders don't behave very well in Bali. There is a lot of drunken behaviour. I'm sure you are aware what happened to a drunk NZer there recently. I am sorry that you guys have to put up with that sort of behaviour, I'm not surprised one finally snapped.
  2. For people who live in inland towns or in cities far from the beach, Bali has far more affordable accomodation than Sydney. Also the exotic appeal of a different country, a different culture, wonderful food and beautiful scenery are very attractive. But we are well aware that many Australians behave very boorishly and show no respect at all for the culture they are visiting. This is just ignorance and it's a source of shame for us. We hope you don't think we're all like that.
  3. it is cheaper for someone from Western Australia to fly to Bali for a holiday than it is for us to fly to the East Coast of Australia. The accommodation is cheaper. It is a great place to party. You don;t have to worry about driving anywhere after you have been out - you can just stumble back to the hotel Shopping is good (well, it used to be. I haven't been to bali for quite a few years now). Many of us also go for the cultural differences. Up in the hills of Bali is just beautiful. The food is fabulous too! The temples - we have nothing like that here.
  4. just different that's all different people culture and its cheap and close
  5. It's on our doorstep , it's cheap , it's interesting , it's exotic & the people are friendly.....
