Ideas on making a manly but romantic bedroom setting?
I'm 25 years old and am in the process of giving my room a more mature makeover. I need a queer guy for this staight guy kinda perspective, because I am pretty clueless when it comes to interior design. Thanks for your help!! ps i like blue and green and live near beach

- Firstly, green is amazing and so is blue. I love interior design :) I painted my room emerald green a couple of weeks ago with violet trims. You could also do this, but perhaps paint the trims saphire blue? Invest in some incense and candles. Have them sitting about. Place them on window sills and tables. Buy some sort of nice lamp or ceiling light shade. Perhaps a lava lamp, mood light with a red or green... (I don't know the word but it gives of this colour to have a nice atmosphere) Don't have too many poster up, it's a little juvinile if not done correctly :) Hang some fairy lights around your room and you are ready! If you have any specific questions, give us a yell!
- you can disqualify my answer if you wish as i am not the least bit gay. i am a single guy in my mid 50's though so maybe that puts me in the mature category. my master bedroom ( small by today's standards as it is only 12 x 14 ) is painted two colors on the walls, a linen cream above a quiet ocean green ( i cut off the green at 36 inches above the floor ) on three walls and just the linen cream on one wall. all of the wood trim is painted an antique white to set it off slightly from the linen color. i have tasteful photographs i have taken thru the years and then framed hanging on the solid color wall. some original artwork is hanging in a few spots as well with low watt, dimmable, focus lights illuminating them from the ceiling. the ceiling fan has dimmaqble lights as well. the furniture is natural wood and a light color. there are woven perisian style carpet runners on each side of the bed. quiet, comfortable, mood setting when desired, functional and "mature".
- If you're straight, you ought to be asking women for advice, you want to know what they think is romantic, not what gay guys think. You like blue and green. Is this romantic to you, or is supposed to be romantic to "them"?
- Start with bedding that you like and then choose a shade from it to paint your walls. Blues, greens and creams look great in a bedroom. - If you want it to be romantic, then consider it from a woman's perspective. Texture, color, soft lighting and comfort are essential beginnings. You could start with the wall color.....a soft green gives an organic look that appeals to both genders. One wall covered in a textured solid color paper that matches the paint color will give the room added dimension and interest. Make sure the window coverings are adjustable to regulate the amount of light coming in and provide privacy....perhaps a wood slat blind to complement but not exactly match the color of the wood in the furniture. The bedding should be full and luxurious like a thick, fluffy comforter rather than a tailored bedspread but in nice browns and creams to blend well with the wall color. Add lots of pillows covered to match the bedding to make a bed you want to dive into. Framed photos, prints or original art work on the walls.....keep at eye level and to a minimum....avoid clutter....the subject matter should be romantic and suggestive but not blatant. A lamp on each bedside table with dimmer switches can go a long way in creating a soft, romantic mood.
