What is the weather like in Australia?

I am planning on studying abroad there and I want to know what are the seasons like? I love hot weather all the time, and I love going to the beach. Is Australia hot a lot of the times? thanks in advance.

  2. mm not always hot, only during summer time, we have a few hot days.. other than that, its cool with the beautiful sun out :D
  3. It varies but seems to follow this pattern most of the time: Increasing lightness followed by increasing darkness.
  4. when we have winter they have summer! so now it is probably coldish
  5. Well Australia is definatly NOT hot all the time. E.g today, it was freezing in Sydney where I live. In winter the temperatures kinda range but don't often go over 30 degrees celcius. In summer, the highest the tempturature goes is 40. Last year it went to 45 degrees, though that is actually very rare. It also depends on where you are planning to live in. Most of the year Australia is pretty warm compared to other countries. I hope this helped.
  6. In summer it is usually really hot, but I guess it depends where you are. NSW and QLD would be the best places for hot weather and beaches, QLD is mostly always hot but NSW gets pretty cold in winter. NSW would be the best place for beaches though, trust me, 'cause I live there :)
  7. well, seeing as you love hot weather, and going to the beach, Australia is going to be the perfect option for you! but, it does depend where you want to study, as the south of Australia can get relitively cold in the winter (our summer). so if you really love the sun, i would suggest the north, and if you like beaches aswell i suggest somewhere like Darwin etc. good luck on studying there if you do choose to go! its an amazing place, and is a real experiance! (if you can bear the snakes and spiders :P)
  8. We live in a large country with a variety of climate types. It depends on where you plan on living while you're here. Anywhere in the Tropics will be quite warm to hot all year. If you plan on living in the south it will be quite cool to cold during winter. It's similar to trying to compare the weather in Seattle, Washington to the weather in Miami, Florida.
  9. Australia is huge and stretches through 33° of latitude from near equatorial tropics in the north to cool temperate in the south with every possible graduation in between. North Queensland (Cairns/Townsville) and the Northern Territory (Darwin) have tropical climates and are warm to hot all year around with only two seasons of warm dry winters and hot, humid, wet summers. You can swim all year around but there is no surf in those areas and stingers around Cairns make it impractical to swim in the sea in summer. In Darwin, there are crocodiles in the sea and estuaries Brisbane and the rest of southeast Queensland is sub-tropical with mild to warm, dry winters and very warm to hot, wetter summers. The water temperature doesn't drop below about 20° (68°F) even in winter and most people find it comfortable to swim for at least 8 or 9 months of the year. The Gold and Sunshine Coast beaches (about an hour to the north and south of Brisabne) are beautiful and the surf is great. As you head south, it's warm for fewer months of the year and the sea temperature is lower. Sydney has mild winters and hot summers with great beaches. The southern cities of Melbourne and Adelaide have cool to cold winters with no snow and very hot summers. Good beaches but you can only swim for 5 or 6 months at most. The climate in Perth in the southwest of Western Australia is warmer than Melbourne/Adelaide and cooler than Sydney. Great beaches. Hobart in Tasmania is cooler than all of the other cities and the sea temperature is pretty cold for most of the year.
  10. The weather varies greatly from state to state. Australia isn't some puny country, it is huge. Which part of Australia do you want to stay in ? If you want hot all the time then Darwin or somewhere in the Northern Territory will suit you.
  11. Kay we'll you've got the four seasons. December- February = Summer, March- May = Autumn, June- August = Winter, September - November = Spring. Summer; mostly hot, Beachy kind of season. Majority of people spend their time outside in this season. So singlets and 'flip flops' are necessities Autumn; The season where the leaves start falling from the trees. Its a season which is generally warmish aswell. Winter; It varies. Somedays it will be cold and rain, other days its sunny. Our cold is probably alot different to yours, so you will probably find it warm. Spring; weather is also generally warm, spring dresses are worn.
