What happened to the Texas Beach Party?

From what I hear Tim Day, the promoter, canceled it but is it still unofficially going on this year or is it just gonna be the relays in Austin this year. Or is everybody just gonna say go to Splash. Thanks.

1. It hasn't been anything more than a traffic nuisance in about 3 years. Once businesses started closing their doors, I guess people decided not to come to Galveston for it. I can't tell you whether or not it's been moved. They have a website: http://www.blackbeachweek.com/kapbeacpar2.html. If you haven't already checked there, you might be able to find info. If you can't, I'd say it's dead.
2. "Beach Party Weekend" in Galveston has been canceled for 2009. Likely because most of Galveston, TX is still re-building from the hurricane and does not have the resources to handle such a large crowd as in past years.
