What is the best texas beach?

We are taking our first family vacation to texas. Would like to take the kids to a nice clean family friendly beach. I have heard south padre is the best, but is it too much of a party crowd.

1. Padre Isle. is a VERY nice beach; I lived there for 13 years. (Corpus, & Kingsville). In the summer time, there ARE lots of people on the beach, but it is well patrolled by security. GOOGLE Padre Island Seashore ! My family, and I have been there at least 100 times.
