Are there any beaches in San Antonio, Texas?
If not, where are the nearest beaches located?
Public Comments
- San Antonio is not by the coast, but cities like Corpus Christi (South Padre Island) and Houston are, so those are where to find the closest beaches.
- Ummm...no beaches, sorry. San Antonio is about 130 miles from the closest beach, which would be down around Corpus Christi.
- As stated above, SA is not on the coast. Corpus Christi, Port Aransas and North Padre are about an hour and a half southeast. They are decent beaches but not clear water. The State Aquarium is in Corpus and a good visit. During Spring Break expect plenty of high school kids and some college kids. South Padre is much better as far as beach goes, but it is a further drive since it is at the tip of the Texas/Mexico border, about 5 hours. The beaches are much more like the typical Mexico beach. If you are going during Spring Break anticipate large crowds of college students. Galveston is just Southeast of Houston, about a 4 hour drive from SA. Don't expect pretty beaches, but there is plenty to do. Moody Gardens is popular. If you are looking for fun in the water though, and willing to settle for a fake beach.... haha There is Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunsfels, it is rated as one of the top two waterparks in the world by the travel channel each year. It is only about a 30 minute drive and lots of fun for all ages and plenty of sun, water, surfing, tubing, and guys and girls in swimsuits. haha A ticket runs less than $30 I think.
- No beaches here since we're more than 200 miles from the coast. The best I can recommend is Schlitterbahn WaterPark on I-35 @ AT&T Blvd..
