Garie Beach

AM I FAT? (Pictures included)?

It's just been winter in Australia here and it's coming into summer now. I've put on a few kilos over the winter.. I feel so gross and depressed. I'm a size 12 now and I use to fit into size 10. My friends are all going to the beach and look amazing, yet I look so average. I need some constructive criticism. I have a few physical disabilities and injuries which means I cannot run or do exercise every day (I need to take 24-48 hours rest between cardio-exercise periods). I enjoy yoga but always seem to forget.. Where do I need to lose the weight? How much? At the moment I'm 175cm/5'9. 70kgs/159lb. I know i'm just within my healthy weight area, but I would like to drop down to low 60s. http://de.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=1566ate&s=4 http://de.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=1zgpxkm&s=4 http://de.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=of7uqh&s=4 (Ignore the bikinis I am wearing because they're last summer's) Do you think at the moment I can wear a bikini in public/in front of friends & family.. etc? http://de.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=23qxixc&s=4 http://de.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2eveu03&s=4 http://de.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=mn2liw&s=4 http://de.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=6z0eas&s=4 (I do know I'm never going to be a size 6 or whatever, but I feel I would be happier and healthier as a size 10). I am 19 years old by the way. At the moment it's very difficult for me to eat healthy. I live at a University hall of residence and we don't get fed the healthiest of food. I'm going home in 2 months and will be eating healthy and exercising a bit more. I usually manage 30minutes of walking per day. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I have back, neck and ankle reoccurring injuries as well.

  1. omg you are so fat, you resemble a double whopper with cheese
  2. you look fine, i know people who got more of a belly then you do and they are still "hott" it dosnt matter if you are a size 10 or not...hey you could look like these people ---> http://www.twd.in/health/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/obese.jpg and even they still look like thay are having a good 'ol time weight dosnt matter...even if it did you have nothing to worry about
  3. you're not that fat but you could loose a few pound's around the love handle's , eat good and exercise often and you should ease away the unwanted fat . I lost 30 pound's in 4 months and now i feel great !
  4. Well honestly I think you look great! I'm 50kg (159cm though - short!!) and I've got more of a gut than you. Your stomach is quite flat, you have a perky but and your thighs look smooth. I've got quite a bit of cellulite. You have a great waist and you generally look in good shape. Sure, get out and exercise when you can but listen to your doctor and don't over do it. And OF COURSE you can wear a bikini! Now is the time in your life you need to enjoy it. I wish I'd been less body conscious when I was 19 and made the most of it. Your family and friends won't care one way or the other, but you should be happy with yourself. You're not fat, you look great. And good for you not wanting to be a size 6 - on your height you'd look hideous. You need curves, girl! And you've got them :)
  5. girl you fine just start jogging a little and you should be good cardio cardio cardio
  6. My body shape looks very similar to yours! Except mine doesn't look nearly as good. ;) Edit: Okay, I admit, this answer is nowhere near actually answering the question. You do have some flab, but it doesn't look even close to fat. You look like you get a fair amount of exercise, you look great in a bikini, and it doesn't seem like you're the kind of girl who is stick thin and cares only about her body and weight. Honestly, I think you are doing great. ^_^
  7. No, I do not think you're fat.
  8. i dont think youre fat by any means, you could get in better shape.. but the same goes for pretty much... everyone lol i think your back could use work, but you look fine in a bikini. try extremely hard to make exercising a habit. even if you start out very small with just 15 min of walking every other day. as long as you do it consistently, that way you wont have to constantly motivate yourself. dont eat at night.. dont eat anything 3 hours before you go to sleep. sleep at least 8 hours a night. eat 6 small meals a day. (make those meals well rounded with extra amounts of fruit and vegetables) try not to take in more than 1700 calories a day make your plan fit you.. if you prefer 3 medium sized meals a day with 2 snacks, instead of 6 small meals.. you can do it that way. if you prefer 2 medium-hard workouts a week instead of 4 small ones, you can do that. experiment a little so it fits you best. its a good idea to have a goal weight or size.. but dont get in the mind set that youll only be happy after you reach that goal. any progress, is progress.
  9. I agree with your own self assessment, in that I feel you could afford to lose a little weight. I also agree that low 60s would be ideal for you. Your problem, as with most women, lies in the lower half of your body. Women naturally accumulate fat in the lower region. It's due to the distribution of your estrogen receptors. Not much you can do about that. But what you can and should do is to start by cleaning up your diet. This is always the first step. That means no soda, candy, doughnuts, pizza, pie, cake, fast food, etc. You should be eating zero processed food. You need not be eating less than you are now, just eating "clean", if you know what I mean. Doing this alone will already make you lose some weight. Next step of course will be to add in exercise. I know you've got some physical disabilities, that's nothing to worry about and don't let that stop you from getting a great body. Exercise need not be anything too strenuous. If you can walk without problems, that can be your best friend. Start by walking (just normal pace) 30 minutes a day. You can even split it up into two 15 minute sessions. That's all I'm willing to say about the exercise part. It's hard to prescribe exercise without knowing more about your medical condition. That would just be plain irresponsible for me to do so. Perhaps your physician/doctor/therapist could advise you on this. Just with dietary intervention and exercise, you will lose a lot of weight. How much? It's hard to say, as it depends on the exercise volume and how well you stick to your diet. But I'd say 2kg per month is EASILY attainable with just diet alone. Imagine what you could do with diet + exercise. But as a nutritionist, I must tell you that of the 2, diet is FAR more important. Finally, don't say "never" going to be a size 6. I am a firm believer in positive thinking. You have to reinforce that positive thinking every waking moment of the day. Don't EVER let anything get you down or distract you from your goals. And remember that you achieve your goals step by step, kilo by kilo. Unlike people working in Hollywood, you don't depend on your looks to survive. Don't be in a hurry. I've seen best results when people take it slow and steady. Best of luck.
  10. i don't think you are fat. i myself am 5'5", and weigh 145 lbs- and wear a size 10. are you comfortable yourself to wear a bikini? i think you would look alright in one- but it's up to you if you feel comfortable or not. if you're really worried, you can change your diet, and exercise. food wise- try to eat more fruits and vegetables. stay away from refined carbs like breads, pasta, and try to stay away from potatoes! (this is hard for me- i'm a sucker for hashbrowns....) if you can't do cardio everyday- do it when you can. but you have to make it count! start out with 5-10 minutes straight, then add time to it ever week or so. you want to be able to do 30min of cradio that works you. this will help you burn the calories and result in losing the "fat". and you're tall! i think you look great. but then again (like it is for me) you have to be comfortable with yourself. what we tell you won't matter, unless you feel it. hope i helped! added: what kind of physical condition? somethign liek this, you need to go over with, with your doctor. they will be able to go over with you what exactly you'll be able to do, for how long, and the amount of actual rest you will need. all these things need to be discussed with your doctor so as not to cause you further harm.
  11. Constructive Criticism. Honestly I don't see one thing that needs improvement or really that should even be touched unless you are going for a body builder look. You have a fantastic figure. I think really skinny are a bit gross. You look like you eat well(I understand college food isn't exactly gourmet diet food) and you take very good care of your body. Keep up the great work and enjoy the beach. You'll be getting some looks when you're there; that I can promise you.
  12. Simple answer.. No Your welcome :D
