Garie Beach

Australian people-please answer. And UK peeps also?

Well. I was just reading some things. Btw, im not planning on moving down under. I just think its annoying when people from Australia keep banging on about how AMAZING Australia is, and how cr***y the UK is. Well, you might not have even been there. I agree, the weather is kind of rubbish. But other than that-the UK is beautiful in lots of places, and yes the roads are small big why should they be any bigger? Its our own country, please dont tell us what to do! Also, there are loads of pompous Australians(no offence) working in London, and also on beaches all around the UK. They're all banging on about how much better Australia is, and how they worked in Bondi Beach or something but (tragically) had to move to this AWFUL country called the UK. Some parts of the UK are horrible in rough places. But who can say that the Australian outback is a nice place to be? I would like your opinions. Thanks.

  1. Your right - Britain does have places that are just as beautiful as places in Australia if not more so, yet like you mention unfortunately we don't get the weather. Australia however actually has a government that know what they are doing. They don't let people into the country unless they have something to offer the country and they have currently paid off all their debts and are in the black. They must be doing something right, when we are heading for a recession and the country is millions, if not billions of pounds in the red. x
  2. Australian men are hot and sexy.
  3. Depend what you going to do in Oz, yes the UK is getting worse by the day we bend over backwards to keep the incommers happy with free everything, money and health care the Ozzies dont take the same shit, they welcome you if you are skilled, have a job and work hard and above all dont be a winging pome (Prisoner Of Mother England). My son is going to the USA or Oz he is a nurse. Me im going to scotland, they are proud of being scottish and are not afraid of flying the flag unlike the english. They are also very welcoming.
  4. Beaches in the UK? My friend is Australian and most definately not pompous so I couldn't really say that its a bad country. But people (not me) do say that Australia was convict land and that it should remain that way. I however think that Australia is brilliant. Sydney and Melbourne especially. The Sydney harbour at night is breath takingly beautiful. I like the Liverpool skyline but it is nothing compared to Down Under. The best thing about Australia apart from the cities and the beaches? Hamish and Andy, Neighbours and Kylie Minogue :P The UK has its bad points and its good points and I'm sure Austrailia and every country in the world has something good about it and something bad about it. At the moment the bad thing about the UK is the rate of knife crime and the fact that people's lives are invaded by too expensive bills and the baliffs. We're two countries that will never get along despite sharing the Union Jack and ruled by the same queen. Poms and Aussies just don't mix and if you read history between the two countries you'll soon discover why. I'll give you a clue: boats, £10 and Brits. And while I was writing that 'Australia' by the Manic Street Preachers started playing on my iPod...
  5. if australia is so bad how come there are thousands upon thousands of brits living there ive been to england and yes the scenery is lovely but i found most of the people cold and rude, sure there are bad elements in australia too and i guess you better stay on your side of the world and you wont have to worry about australia i did find the scottish to be among most welcoming people ive ever met
  6. I used to work with a fella from England who used to complain about Australia all the time, and after a while I told him to go back home if he hated it so much. When you come across an Aussie who is sooking on about it, tell them to go back home to OZ. I love Australia and would do anything for this country. I also loved the US. I haven't been to England as the exchange rate is pathetic. Like you said about rough places, Australia has some places that should be napalmed, I am not a fan of Bondi, but our south coast of NSW has the best beaches I have ever seen. However, I do like the outback. It is quiet, isolated, and you are really on your own out there. I like the feeling of being totally self reliant.
  7. That's a shame you've met people that aren't enjoying the country they've chosen to be in for a while. Brighton is one of my favourite places on earth, Bondi is one of my least favourite. I could wax lyrical about Scotland for days. And as for your roads - I swear you have the politest drivers in the world! I love how everywhere you walk in the English countryside there's a ruin here, a castle there, an ancient stone wall over there, and what's this? Another great little pub with a whole new selection of beers! And I love the people. We're spoilt in Australia for beaches and climate which ruins a lot of the world in that respect... but it's not fair to unfavourable compare two such completely different places when they each have a unique beauty and character. Australia's not better, it's different. Tell them to open their eyes or shut up!
  8. when you meet any aussies who complain about england do what we do here in aussie & tell them if they don't like it pissoff back home or get over it cos we don't give a bugger what they think you will find a few people everyplace who complain all the time
  9. You're right...well mostly. I think you are wrong about the Australian outback not being a great place... i love the Australian outback because it is so different to coastal Australia. Its animals, the land, the colours, the history. However you are right. If you don't like being somewhere don't bag it leave it! I can't stand people who whinge but continue to stay where they are. I have to say i don't bag out the UK, or any other country because I have never been there. But I love Australia and get pretty upset when people bag it out and they've never been here or they bag it out and continue to live here. If you don't like it bugger off is my idea.
  10. I have never heard people bad mouthing the UK. Yes we love our country, what's wrong with that? Many Australian choose to live in the UK, mostly for a year or so but some do stay. I do think the weather is the only detracting from for the UK. I take some offense to your outright attack against Australians, don't generalise us. I for one have never insulted the UK. And yes, I have been there, bloody expensive and a little cold but it's an alright place. I wouldn't choose to live there, but it's more what I'm used to then a hatred for the place. People don't live in the Australian outback, most is inhabitable. Over 85% of Australians live on the coast. If you have a problem with them, then tell em to bugger off back to Australia, don't come and here and rant and insult us, by doing so you're no better then they are.
  11. I would just like to state that this isn't really a question, just an excuse for you to have a rant about Australian people in the UK. Every where in the world you will meet people who think they know it all, been there done that attitude and will LOVE to tell you how great "their" country is truth be told if it was that great they would prob still be there, so my advice tell whoever whinges to you that if Australia is so much better than the UK that nobody put a gun to their head and told them they had to go to the UK and that they should go back home or quit whinging. But what do I know? Australian's do say English People are a bunch of whinging Poms...
  12. wow Did you go to school? Reading that question gave me such a headache. I have been to both England and Australia and i am going to have to agree with those "pompous Australians" that you meet and say i much prefer Australia over england.
