What's a good vacation spot in Texas with a beach?

I live in Phoenix and my boyfriend and I are tired of Vegas/San Diego vacations that we always go on. What's the best beach to vacation in Texas? I would obviously like the beach to be nice, but also good nightlife and hotels and all the other stuff that vacays are about should be good too. Thanks!

1. I live about an hour away from south padre island and it is a great vacation spot...ive been going my whole life and it never gets old. we are mins away from mexico and have great shopping u would love it...
2. Galveston has a lot of great beaches, also shopping and a Schlitterbahn waterpark. If you don't care about the beach, but want some water, go to New Braunfels. The large Schlitterbahn (largest waterpark in America, possibly the world) is there, and you can camp along the river and go tubing.
3. South Padre is the nicest beach in here.......but ill be honest, all the beaches is Texas are DIRTY AND UGLY!!!!!!!
