Are there any nice beaches in California?

Me and my family are planning a trip from the UK to California this Summer. I was just wondering if there are any nice,sandy beaches. Where are they? Are they clean? What's the usual temperature in Summer of the water and outside the water? Are they like the Caribbean? Any other things we should know?

1. 1. Basically all around the coast is great. Some beaches can include Santa Cruz, CA Morro Bay, CA Pismo Beach, CA Santa Barbara, CA Santa Monica, CA Huntington Beach, CA San Diego, CA 2. Most of them are. 3. Even if it's 100 degrees by the beach, the water is still going to be really cold! If you want warmer beaches, go to the east coast like Florida. 4. They are not like the Caribbeans. That's why California does not get hurricanes. 5. No drinking alcohol on the beach as it's illegal.
