Grand Turks Beach Information?

Our cruise ship will be stopping at Grand Turks in the Turks and Caicos Islands and I would like to know whether I can walk to a good beach from the pier; or should/must I book a tour or taxi to get to a beach? Which is the best beach to visit on Grand Turks if you are there from a cruise ship? What activities are available at and/or near the pier?

1. from my experiences, each locale differes, and the best way to find out is to ask your crew. They've been there multiple times and they know. They know what is the best way to tour with the time allowed, and where the action is. Ask any of the crew members and they'll tell you. enjoy your trip!
2. You obviously haven't heard of the effect of Hurricane Ike on Grand Turk last month. It is in a bad state and it will be a long time before things are back to normal. Most of the inhabitants are still homeless. A big effort has been made to patch up the cruise terminal area and there is a beach at Margaritaville near the terminal.
