camping in australia?

hey so a friend and i are planning on going to australia for 6 months in march. Is it possible to pitch a tent on beaches like bondi beach or fraser island? Is it easy for backpackers without vehicles to get to places like that? and how much does it cost per night. Thanks!

1. I found the best place for the information you are seeking is the YHA. By becoming a member (for a small fee) you can get discounts at certain backpackers. They can also advise you on camping areas etc. www.yha.com.au Also visit your local camping shop. They normally have books on camping areas around Australia and some even have the fee's for camping listed.
