Garie Beach

HAS ANYONE EVER BEEN TO THE Beaches All-Inclusive Resorts?

I am a single mother of 4. They are having a special now for single parents. Just wondering if it is worth it and how much spending money to bring for a 10 day trip?

  1. I can't comment myself but a friend of a friend went and she loved the resort! She said it was excellent and the all inclusive was great. Sorry I can't comment beyond that... As for spending money, most of it is included, I think even tips, but check with the resort. You might also want to see stuff outside of the resort, buy souveniers, and don't forget taxi rides and stuff. :)
  2. Depends on if you plan on going on excursions away from the resort. We stay about 10 days every time we go there... and I bring $50 in singles just to tip. $200.00 to buy miscellaneous items. However , if you plan on just staying at the resort. You really don't need much money.... Have FUN!!!
  3. I've never been to Beaches, but my husband and I go to Sandals every year. Sandals and Beaches are owned by the same guy, and are run the same way, except Sandals is for couples and Beaches is for families. There's no tipping allowed, and once you pay for the trip, everything else (except laundry service, dry-cleaning, spa services) is included. If you leave the property for an excursion, there is an extra charge for the trip (excursions aren't run by the resort), and you will need cash for tipping. You didn't mention which resort you're looking into, but if you go to Jamaica, there's no need to exchange your money to Jamaican dollars. We enjoy the resort we go to (Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay) so much that this winter will be our seventh trip. The service is excellent, the food is good, and the resort is well-maintained. I've added some links, I hope they help. And enjoy your vacation!
  4. sry i dont know
  5. I have been to Beaches and it was worth every penny....the one just outside Ocho Rios that is, but you should have the same service at any property. I saw the special advertised and thought it was a great deal for the single parent. It is a beautiful location and appropriately named, most of the activities are beach/water oriented. They have several pools areas with slides- a water park- the kids are bound to enjoy it. I don't swim but I thoroughly enjoyed myself....swim up bar to boot. You definitely wont regret it. It is all inclusive and I mean ALL. Food and drinks are avaiable all day and night and there is a nanny to help you with the kids so you can have some alone time. You don't have to spend a cent more after you have purchased the package....that is if you don't want to...so, I would say set your budget and stick to it. I am sure you will want to purchase stuff like souvenir to take back home, so take that into consideration. If you plan to leave the hotel then you will need money to get around and see the sights. If you don't plan to leave the hotel then you have nothing to worry about. They also have a kids club and character theme for the kids; I think Elmo and friends and other Sesame street characters. Things in Jamaica will be approximately the same price as in the US or a little more. Remember that few things are made locally. Also never pay the original price verbally quoted. If it is not tagged, bargain, and even if it is tagged it won't hurt to ask for a discount. The exchange rate is between J$70-72 to US$1. You will get the lowest rates at the airports and at the hotels. FX trader will offer you the best rates at any time. They are located in the centre of the town. Gustav has just passed by, so if you planned on coming any time soon, it wouldnt hurt to practise by asking for a discount! Happy travels.
