Why do so many americans diss their own country?

We have; Deserts (arizona, texas, new mexico) Snovy Cold arctic areas (alaska, maine) Forests (Pacific Northwest, parts of alaska, Adirondacks) Farmland (Most of the Midsection of U.S.) Tropical areas (Hawaii, So. Florida, So, cali) .and lots more I DARE YOU to name 1 country that is as geographically diverse as the U.S. ....China comes close but it still lacks a few environments. We have TOTALLY unique cities! Las Vegas (Glitsy Gambling) NYC, Chicago (Big Buildings) Miami (Resorts and highrise condo's and hot girls and beaches!!!) Los Angeles (EVERYTHNG in one) Detroit, St. Louis (Ghetto) Honolulu (Expensive tropical apartments, condos) New Orleans (Abandoned city [for the most part]) Washington D.C. (gorgeous European-LIKE capital (well parts of it!lol) Sure we have our fair share of idiotic leaders, but what country hasn't? Sure some of us act arrogant and overlypatriotic, but in a nation like ours, who can blame us? Sorry, I have to go! Im going snowboarding in alaska, then mudbathing in Kansas than going ATV offroading in arizona, than flying to Miami Beach and "spending time" with all the hot girls than going to Detroit and getting robbed and raped than ending it with going to a church in Atlanta to get over my mental trauma. I love being an american! I think one root of american hatred is jealousy.

  1. maybe it's guilt over having all the things available that you describe guilt over not doing more for the environment, children, old people, dogs, animals, trees, bug and insects, polar bears, pandas, air, water, poverty, sickness, orphans, mentally sick, physically challenged, bad sports teams, hunger, thirst, obesity, schools, oppression of (insert name) crime, success, failure, government, medical care, funeral expenses, drug abuse, alcholol abuse, bad parents, not having popular clothes and shoes to wear, a bad hair day, You name it and Americans will feel guilty about it.
  2. as per their experiences
  3. Because the politicians stink and make mind-blowingly stupid decisions for their own money-grabbing agenda. Yes, the country has beauty, so has New Zealand, but both are populated by people. If we are unhappy with what we see the people/leaders doing, that is hardly going to be uplifting. It is difficult to be proud of a people that stomps over anyone it feels like in the world. Forget Iraq and Afghanistan for a moment. What about the American idea of globalisation. Globalisation was just dandy when large US corporations went global and took over millions of Mom and Pop and larger businesses in lots of little, and not so little, countries. It doesn't look so good now when US jobs are going for good by the million to countries where just about anything can be done more cheaply. Many don't have the money to go and explore the country and visit all the cities. They are much more concerned with putting bread on the table and figuring out how they are going to pay their health bills. Shame on you for extolling the unimportant when the haves allow the poor and needy to live in the gutter and die without proper medical treatment. Solve some of the iniquities in the US and get out of other peoples affairs around the world and you will see the dissing diminish.
  4. I wish you could come and visit my city in detroit. Ghetto as you put it... You ask why do people diss where they live and then you diss where I live...I am not too happy about your opinion.. We live a very nice life here in the suburbs surrounding detroit. There are many places to go and allot to do here. Please visit our Ghetto soon.
  5. I agree with you that the land we live on is beautiful and diverse and we're lucky to have the opportunity to experience so much of it. What I don't like is people who see the beauty of this land and ignore the beauty on foreign soil, while bragging about our land. How will you ever learn to really appreciate your home if you don't get out to see the rest of the world?
  6. For the most part, New Orleans isn't abandoned. The further east you go, however, east of the French Quarter, the less people there will be, because that's where most of the destruction was. Most of the western half is repopulated now, and most of it is rebuilt. And Los Angeles seems very boring and overrated.
