I live in E. Texas. I want to drive to the closest/nicest beach resort in Mexico. How long will it take?

1. Depends, the closet thing is Tampico, 310 miles from Bronwns ville, not the best but ok, or you can travel down south to Veracruz at Boca del Rio 600 miles away, still on the gulf, both towns are old ports, Veracruz city is a place where you will experience the mexican culture of that zone wich its a bit different than other parts, is not the best beach but i´m sure you will like the place.
2. I thought about doing that several years ago and I'm from Dallas. Don't do it. Just getting to the tip of Texas will wear you out and with the gas prices, you could fly and stay in a much nicer place than all the money you would spend driving.

4. You got good answers. The eastern coast of Mexico has no good beaches until you get all the way down to Tampico...and then it is just so-so. It is better for you to go to Corpus Christi. I live in Mexico and have driven the whole eastern coastline...there are no beaches near Texas. It is all rough coastline and oil driling territory...not suitable for beaches.
