i purchase a land by the beach in the philippine island. i would like to start a resort is this a good idea?

the land is about an hour away from the airport but 30 minutes away from the city.

1. Which Island ? It may be a great idea .
2. There are many factors that would make a beach resort attractive to foreign and domestic tourist. One is accessability - are the roads leading to the beach in good condition. Another is the beach itself - is it clean ? is the sand white ? Tell us the location so that we tell you our opinion. Happy Holidays !

It depends on the area/location.Basically the most important is the cleanliness of the water,this is a plus factor that local and foreign tourist will like your place.You can enhance the surroundings by being creative.If it's easy to find,as in along the highway or the road going there is accessible then you have no problem on promoting it. 4. That is a big investment. If you have the funds and you see enough tourism attraction in your place, then by all means. Also know your market. There are those who want high end accommodations and those who simply like the basic facilities. There are foreigners who call themselves as "backpackers" who would like cheap but descent accommodations. Some would even like to rent out nipa cottages just to fell that they are in the tropics and not anymore in an urban place. The problem with resorts in the Philippines, they look too "western". Foreigners come here in the Philippines to see the tropics and not western style resorts that is too familiar to them. Some are even copies of other Asian resorts. That is why Amanpulo is considered one if not the best resort in the Philippines because it is designed in the Philippine architecture. The architect used Philippine materials and design but with a modern twist. We should present OUR native culture and not copy those American designs found in magazines.
5. before you start, it is better to confer with government engineers at Department of public works and highways at del pan bridge, Manila to ensure safety of your capital as private contractors are facing charges on malversation like my friend who build a house worth millions. at least govt. engineers have reputation for honesty. any resort is good if it caters for all ages.
