which texas beach is prettier?

corpus christi/padre island or galveston? we want to go to a texas beach for vacation, and south padre is soo far to drive is it worth it, I've heard they have the most pristine beaches.

1. try looking it up on line and see what rating you can find on the beaches
2. Padre Islands are definitely worth the drive but if you can't make it there....I say that the next best thing is Galveston .
3. all of them are pretty nasty, padre is probably the best but texas isn't known for its beaches, they are too busy and surrounded with ports and stuff like that, galveston is the worst though
4. padre!! i live in tx close to galveston and it stinks and the water looks like dirty brown stinky stuff. closer to mexico you get the bluer the water!! galveston is a nice town dont get me wrong but i dont swim in anything i cant see whats around me! plus most of galvestons beaches are pretty small you have to pay at stewart beach (only decent size beach that the city keeps clean) or sit 2 hrs for the ferry to go to boliver to be on a b each with knee high seaweed.
5. Let me give you some advice. I live in Texas and have been to all three. I, personally, think Corpus Christi is nothing special. And if you think Padre Island is too far, Corpus is about the same distance, give-or-take a few miles. If you have very young kids, Galveston would be a good choice, considering the depth of water. If it was my choice, I would choose Padre Island. But there is a downside there, too. There are a lot of college-age kids that spend their time drinking and driving their cars along the beach. I would suggest Padre Island, but if you have young kids, it's probably not best to be on the SOUTH side of the island. The rest is okay.
6. South Padre is nice. For me, it's worth the drive; I wouldn't do it for a one day beach trip or all the time, but for a couple of days or a long weekend or something, it is really worth it. But yeah beware of vacationing college kids. Galveston is ok; the city itself is nice and the beach is alright. I only go there because I live in Houston and it makes a good day trip. But the beach isn't the prettiest or cleanist in the world.
