How far is KEMAH from GALVESTON beach in Texas?

I was wondering what the driving time is from Galveston to Kemah and if it is worth making that a side trip?

1. i dont think its far, but if anything, spend the day at galveston and then do kemah at night. Kemah is a better night place
2. I live and work in the area. It takes 30 minutes to get from Galveston to Kemah. Use Highway 146 and you will be right at the side street to turn right to go to the Kemah boardwalk. It is worth the trip. Amylynn is right, go at night as it is really pretty there. They have rides and a big ferris wheel and observation platform that goes up to see the area. Lots of great restaurants and gift shops. The beach at Galveston is lots of fun during the day, and they now have a big Schlitterbahn water park there.
