what are the prettiest beaches in galveston texas?

  1. "Pretty" and "Galveston" are polar opposites. I am from Florida originally and find Galveston beaches to be filthy, stinky and the water is brown. YUCKO!!! Another idea may be Padre Island near Corpus Christi. I have never been, but I heard it was very nice.
  2. The 1st answer is correct. If you've been to Florida or the Caribbean, you will not like Galveston. The water is brown and the sand is gravely (if that's a word)lol I have also heard Padre Island or Corpus Christie to be very nice.
  3. IMO: NONE of them but I usually go to Bolivar Peninsula/Crystal Beach. You drive your car onto a ferry & it's less than a 1/2 hour trip over. Galveston Island itself pretty much bites. Have fun & don't go in the water lol. At least it's less crowded & trashy like other beaches down there.
  4. Unfortunately, Galveston doesn't have pretty beaches.
  5. You've gotta be kidding me....
  6. Galveston is dirty because of the seawall that was built a long time ago. It is still a fun place to visit.
  7. None. I grew up around Galveston, and you're never gonna find a beach that fits "pretty".
  8. The beaches are more like filthy bayou run off with mixed nasty oily gulf water. It's got to be a health hazard to go into that water. Nasty, nasty, nasty
  9. RUN - DON'T WALK - TO PADRE ISLAND!!!!! I do enjoy The Strand on Galveston though. Be sure to take the Haunted Galveston Tour - that's lots of fun after drinks at Diggy's Bar and Bu-Ya-Ka!
  10. If color the color of the water does not matter to you, i think the Sea Wall is cool.
  11. I have to agree with the other people about Galveston not being as pretty as South Padre or even Corpus Christi, but Stewart Beach is a popular family beach. As far as "prettiest" beach in Galveston, there is a human-made beach called Palm Beach at Moody Gardens that looks fairly nice.
  12. FYI he didn't say prettiest beach in the world! He said in Galveston!!! Go to crystal beach, but be sure to make a trip over to galviston island to walk down the strand... it is really a lot of fun! They have fun shops and an old time candy store that is VERY nice! There are some haunted tours that are a lot of fun and will give you history about the island too... i really love to go on the haunted tours!!!
  13. check out private beaches in galveston...although its still galveston, its the closest you will get to pretty there.
