galveston is a dump, nothing but seaweed and jellyfish.
Sorry dude, don't mean to spoil your plans but kenkarjr1 is right. Lots of seaweed and jellyfish, and don't forget trash from offshore oil platforms. Only along the main beach along Seawall Blvd do they clean the beaches. Somebody will probably give me a bad rating for this, but it doesn't change the truth. If you want fun, go to South Padre Island. Even the bay in Brownsville has good jet skiing plus rentals, if you don't mind sharing space with hammerheads.
Galveston is sooo not as bad as other peeps r sayin but i dunno if u can rent a jet ski. but u can surf (when the surf is good), u can boogie board, there r things u can rent like bikes that seat 4 people or 6 people or 9 people which is really fun, visiting the strand would be nice cuz theres a lot of cool stores and boutiques, or taking tours of either the bishop's palace or the moody mansion. i even think there are ghost tours but i'm not sure. oh and don't forget to visit Schlitterbahn water park cuz they just opened a new area in the park! people say it's a dump which is rude but it's actually a fun-filled place!
