Are there any nice beaches in Texas?

I have been to South Padre, and I don't feel like going that far south. Are there any nice beaches that are worth visiting? Maybe some good snorkling waters and white sand? I don't want to go to South Padre and I don't want a list of beaches, I could google a list myself. I need an answer from somebody that knows the Texas beaches and may have some insight to a nice beach. Thanks
