What are some safe beaches to swim at in Texas?
Please be specific. I want to try and persuade my parents to take me and two of my friends to the beach and stay at a hotel over night. I live in Texas and it's for my 13th birthday!!! Thanks :D

- They're all safe to swim. It is a question of what is most convenient and how crowded it is. Galveston is straight down I-45 from Houston. Drive to the very end, turn left, and there's Stewart's Beach. As for a hotel in the summer, two rooms will set your folks back over $200. This is summer tourist season. I'm thinking your folks might say, "Let's make this a day trip." After all, you're going to be 13. What can you do aside from lay on the beach?
- All the beaches are safe.... Here's some nicer ones. Click the link. I say Padre Island is the best.
- Corpus Christi can be a good area. Check out the website for more information. Like the "Cleanest Beaches" page. http://www.corpuschristicvb.com/ There is also the Texas State Aquarium and the U.S.S. Lexington to visit. http://www.texasstateaquarium.org/ http://www.usslexington.com/ There are some nice tourist shops to look through too if you get bored of the beach. Check hotels.com for cheap rates and reviews of hotels in the area. Here is also a link to information about Galveston beaches. You can rent all types of bikes, sand crawlers, and related activities. Bring along some roller blades, a skateboard, or your own bikes and ride along the seawall for a cheaper alternative. Walk along the boardwalk for great tourist shops and cheap beach things. http://www.galveston.com/default.asp Moody Gardens is a really fun theme park. It has aquariums, a "rain forest"/zoo, and an Imax, among other things. It can get pricey though, so check the rates online. You can pay for only the attractions you want to see. The rain forest is definitely my favorite. http://www.moodygardens.com/
