what are good beaches for bonfires in southern california?

i need some nice beaches that allow bonfires in the so cal area. mostly the los angeles area. thanks! also, if you can, can you send me links to cheap hotels in the area? within like, a few blocks of the beach preferably, nothing more than 2 miles away from the beach. thanks.

1. Docweiller is the most popular beach for bonfires. It's in Playa del Rey on the way to Manhattan Beach near LAX. http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=617 It's awesome there in the summer because a ton of people have bonfires, but it's not like super crowded. It's got a cool vibe. You can go there year-round, though. We have a Christmas bonfire on the beach there.... : ) Just MAKE SURE you move your car off the street after 10 because they will ticket you in a heartbeat.
2. im not sure of the specific beach, but look up beaches in orange county. my cousin lives there and is always telling me about her friends having beach bonfire parties.
3. As far as I know, LA county typically forbids bonfires on any of their beaches. You have go find a beach that also has a camping ground and use those. Those will be a lot further back from the water. There's more on the beach bonfires in Orange County. We always go to Corona Del Mar beach for bonfires. As for cheap hotels two miles from the beach, good luck. Hotels that close to the beach are way overpriced. Especially in LA. You may be able to find something a little further back.
4. Many of the beaches in San Diego have firepits where bonfires are allowed. There are many firepits. During the summer months you can enjoy a bonfire on one of the beaches in Mission Bay and time it to also view the fireworks from Sea World. Unfortunately most of them are expensive especially in the summer. You might try the SeaCoast Inn a little south in Chula Vista. It's on the beach. There's also the Ocean Beach Hotel in Ocean Beach.
