what is the best beaches in southern california for swimming?

I am looking for one that is not to crowded, but the tides are not so big that little kids cant go in. I like aliso beach, but the waves are way too big.

1. Cassie, Mother's Beach in Marina Del Rey is the place for little kids. No waves and a sand beach with a cook out area if you want it. Have Fun
2. Crystal Cove in Laguna Beach. It costs a couple of dollars for admission but it is gorgeous!
