Which do you think is better, The Carolina beaches or the California beaches.?
I like the Carolina beaches are better because i live only 3 hours away from them. I have never been to the California beaches before so if you think they're the better, tell me why.

- Santa Monica, CA is the beach near Beverly Hills/ UCLA in Los Angeles. It has a boardwalk that stretches for miles on past Venice Beach. The beaches are wider, and you don't have to struggle past sand dunes to get to the beaches in California. In many places, you walk from a nice residential neighborhood onto the boardwalk. There are shops and restaurants on the boardwalk. It's not the same type of tourist attraction like in North Carolina.
- They are completely different. In the summer, the ocean is much warmer in the Carolinas. Typically, it isn't until late July that you can bear the Pacific without a wetsuit. However, surfing is better on the West Coast. The beaches are much wider and have fewer shells to walk on in California. Plus, Venice Beach is way more fun. Take a look here: www.venicecam.com
- The beaches in SoCal (southern California) are the best, especially in Malibu. A lot of celebrities also think so (Mel Gibson, Britney Spears, Barbara Streisand, Martin Sheen, etc.)
- In Calfornia the quality of the water and sand is different - out east I thought the water was kind of murky and there was a lot of debris in the water. The sand is a totally different texture. The weather in the LA area is much drier (less humid) than out east, but as someone else mentioned, the water is much colder. If you live by the beach it rarely gets so hot you're uncomfortable. As for the stars -they're only here cause they work here (and the only reason they work here is because the weather is great for filming since it's predictable... sun 300+ days a year)
